Introduction
A pila is the kitchen sink, washing machine, kitchen counter, and water storage container for the typical Honduran home. It is a concrete structure built on-site and is where food preparation, dish washing, washing laundry, baby bathing, etc occur. Every family with enough financial ability builds some type of pila in their home. It makes day-to-day work in the home possible. Imagine your home without a kitchen sink, a kitchen counter, and a laundry area. Given a pila can cost over $100 US to build, the poorer inhabitants cannot afford to make a pila. We have agreed to help poorer homes build a pila. For a little over $100 we can greatly ease the daily burden on the poor of San Jose.
